Update: Downed Power Lines, Streets Closed

1,700 customers in Cumberland are without power according to the Potomac Edison. Allegany County Emergency Services reports a tree is down around North Lee Street and Valley Street. Electrical polls and lines are down. Crews have responded to the scene. Numerous street closures as a result of a tree down on the Great Alleghany Passage. A tree caused damage to numerous power poles on the Westside of Cumberland. The area affected is Valley Street to Cumberland Street to include Mountain View Drive. There are numerous locations throughout the affected area where wires and poles are down. Please avoid these areas and treat all down wires as live. There are several traffic lights that are out as a result of the incident, remember when traffic lights are out, they are to be treated as a must stop in all directions. The Potomac Edison crew on the scene is estimating the power to be out in the area for an extended period of time.
