An inmate was stabbed this morning at North Branch Correctional Institution near Cresaptown.
Mark Vernarelli, Executive Director of the Office of Communications of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, tells WCBC News that the incident was reported at 11:40 AM, with the inmate taken by Trooper 5 to the Western Maryland Health System for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The Intelligence and Investigative Division of PSCS is looking into the matter and will determine what happened, and what charges can be filed.
