I bet in the end only a 1/4 will connect and most of those will find some state grant to pay.

      > That makes sense with about 3/4 of the space long vacant with no prospects for that to change. Notice that our appointed city council member has stopped using their ancestral name that associated them with one of the larger derelict buildings on the mall.

Ruining the #1 most photographed tourist asset of the City of Cumberland –the scenic pedestrian mall, just so we can add exhaust fumes and still have empty store fronts. Crazy.

Haven’t heard one good reason why they couldn’t redevelop the rear access points for these buildings and lay the utilities in those streets and leave the pedestrian mall alone. Except that Jackson wants people to drive past his music store and make an impromptu saxophone purchase (as one commonly does).

I wish the City of Cumberland would reconsider getting rid of scenic pedestrian walkway. Having lunch there last weekend was wonderful. City Lights and Baltimore Street will be missed for the relaxing outside dining experience. Covid 19 has made everyone rethink how we live our lives and having beautiful outside dining is just one of the changes that we have all made.
