Morriss Comments on Bedford Rd Fire Hydrant Use Disagreement

A recent disagreement about the legitimate use of fire hydrants along the Bedford Road area led to a letter of clarification to Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department Chief Eddie Collins from City Administrator Jeff Rhodes. At issue was the practice of using those hydrants by members of the fire department for training purposes without permission.  In his letter to the chief, Rhodes explained that the hydrants in question exist solely for the purpose of maintaining water quality throughout the city.  On Wednesday’s “Dave Norman Show,” Mayor Ray Morriss elaborated…

Morriss says he expects there will be a meeting between city officials and Chief Collins in the near future — possibly involving County Director of Emergency Services Jim Pyles — to address the chief’s concerns and the need for proper training of members of the fire department.
