With planned construction likely to severely restrict entertainment opportunities on the Downtown Cumberland Mall next year, city officials are hoping to see facilities at Canal Place and Constitution Park utilized more. The overwhelming success of the Del McCoury Band show held on Memorial Day at Canal Place has sparked discussion among the city council in recent weeks, hopeful that other concerts and shows could lead to similar attendance numbers and brisk business for downtown shops and restaurants. In addition to the festival grounds at Canal Place, officials would like to see the amphitheatre at Constitution Park host more events as well.
