The Mountainview Landfill in Vale Summit will be closed in the first quarter of 2022. That announcement made at Thursday’s meeting of the Allegany County Commissioners after county officials signed off on two separate agreements relating to a merger of the landfill owner/operator “Waste Management” and “Advanced Disposal,” owners or the Western Maryland Transfer Station. The final agreement will see Waste Management transferring the Mountainview Landfill to Green for Life. Paul Kahl, the county’s director of Public Works, said that once the Mountainview site closes early in 2022, the Transfer Station located behind the State Prison in Cresaptown will essentially become the new county landfill…
