MSP Makes Drug Bust Near Rocky Gap

On Saturday afternoon, troopers from the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack were monitoring the flow of traffic on Interstate 68 near Rocky Gap State Park. A speeding violation led to search of a black 2016 Ford Edge, bearing Wisconsin registration. The search revealed $3,025.00 in U.S. Currency, 200.2 grams of marijuana, 0.7 grams of heroin, 45.7 grams and 67 capsules of MDMA (Ecstacy), 23.5 grams and 3 capsules of ketamine, more than 500 doses of LSD, 3.1 grams of cocaine, 6 doses of a new synthetic hallucinogenic drug known as nBOMe, 4 tablets of clonazepam (Xanax), 3 tablets of morphine and 9 tablets of dextroamphetamine.

A passenger of the vehicle, Zachary Bender, 30, of Philadelphia Pennsylvania was arrested upon the finding of numerous controlled dangerous substances and a large amount of currency. Bender was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance.
