Nearly 100 People Protest George Floyd’s Death Downtown

June 1st, 2020 by WCBC Radio

A gathering of close to a hundred people outside of Cumberland’s City Hall Sunday afternoon holding a peaceful  protest over the death of George Floyd. Those in attendance were wearing masks and many were carrying signs advocating racial harmony. 1960’s protest songs such as “We Shall Overcome” filled the air with many cars honking their horns in support as they drove by.  Event organizer Ellen McDaniel-Weissler talked with WCBC News during the rally.

If black lives mattered the black community would not support the Democrat Party which has funded the extermination of 15,000,000 black children at their abortion clinics.

Nice Greg. Always good to blend one social issue into another unrelated social issue. Not saying I support abortion but peaceful demonstrations and abortions are both legal.

Great. Good to see everything went well. This is the way protests should be, respectful, not destructive. The looting, burning, assaults, and disrespect for the laws delegitimize the message the true protest is attempting to convey.
