New Executive Director Of MEMA Discusses Hurricane Preparedness

Russell Strickland, former director of the Harford County Department of Emergency Services, was appointed last month as the new executive director of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).  Strickland has over four decades of experience in the fields of emergency services and management, first responder activities, law enforcement, and fire inspection and investigation. He also has a local tie, having attained an M.S. in management from Frostburg State University. He recently discussed the steps Maryland is taking for hurricane preparedness. Maryland on average received about ten major storms a year, and that is what he anticipates…
