It was announced this week that NewPage and the Luke Mill will be purchased later this year by the Verso Paper Corporation for $1.4 billion- and while details have been scarce, early indicators are that no drastic changes will be part of the switch. The Luke mill is owned by NewPage which just recently emerged from bankruptcy. The mill employs an estimated 900 area residents.
