Verso Paper Corporation and NewPage Holdings announced this afternoon they have entered into an agreement under which Verso will acquire NewPage for $1.4 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of this year. There is no word on how this will affect the Luke Paper Mill in Southwestern Allegany County.
