New Scholarship May Improve Number of Area College Grads

A recent report shows the number of college graduates in Allegany County is lagging drastically behind the rest of the state- something that County Commissioner Bill Valentine believes can be partially addressed by way of the recently approved county scholarship fund. The commissioners voted in August to establish the fund for 2014 for students wanting to attend Allegany College of Maryland,a and just recently decided to expand it to potentially include Frostburg State University.  The scholarships will be funded through monies received from gaming operations at the Rocky Gap Resort and Casino.
