New Type Of Anti-Drug Program Could Be Coming Allegany Co. Public School System

A new type of anti-drug program may be coming to the Allegany County public school system- if all of the various components and partnerships can come together. Cumberland City Councilman Seth Bernard presented the concept of the Rise Against Drugs membership program to the Board of Education Tuesday night, saying that he had read about such a program being a success in a small Ohio community.  The program encourages abstaining from alcohol and drugs and being kind to others. Among the details, students voluntarily join the club for a small fee. Those students then agree to be randomly drug tested during the course of the school year.
