New York Firm Awarded Memorial Campus Raze Contract

A New York firm has been awarded the project that will led to the demolition of the former Memorial Hospital and medical buildings. The Cumberland mayor and City Council announced Tuesday that Ritter & Paratore Contracting Inc. of Utica with a low bid of just under $1.5 million, has been selected.  17 bids were received in early September, with bids ranging from Ritter’s $1.5 million to a high of nearly $4 million. City Engineer John Difonzo DiFonzo said part of the permitting process is bringing in the EPA and the Maryland Department of the Environment, who help oversee that any environmental issues are handled properly. He added that a public meeting will be scheduled, with neighbors invited, that will have representatives from Ritter & Paratore present…
