Mckay comments on Craft Beer Bills

Craft beer aficionados are encouraging the support of one bill over another to lift restrictions on Maryland's evolving craft beer industry. Currently, House Bill 518 or Reform on Tap Act of 2018 and House Bill 1052 have both been proposed to the Maryland Legislature. The Reform on Tap Act of 2018 introduced by Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is meant to relieve restrictions on the state's craft beer industry, while House Bill 1052, proposed by Maryland delegates Talmadge Branch and Dereck Davis, reduces the amount of beer small breweries can produce.  Both bills will be presented in Annapolis on Friday. Last week, Nicole Alt-Myers, a candidate for the House of Delegates 1C seat, spoke in support of the comptroller’s bill- and at the same time was critical of the incumbent for being silent on the issue.
