SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 290 REMAINS VALID UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN MARYLAND THIS WATCH INCLUDES 1 COUNTY IN WESTERN MARYLAND GARRETT IN WEST VIRGINIA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA PRESTON TUCKER IN NORTHERN WEST VIRGINIA MARION MONONGALIA WETZEL THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF DAVIS, FAIRMONT, GRANTSVILLE, KINGWOOD, MORGANTOWN, MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK, NEW MARTINSVILLE, OAKLAND MD, PARSONS, TERRA ALTA, AND THOMAS.
FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has expanded the * Flash Flood Watch to include portions of western Maryland, east central Ohio, southwest Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, including the following areas, in western Maryland, Garrett. In east central Ohio, Belmont, Coshocton, and Guernsey. In southwest Pennsylvania, Fayette, Fayette Ridges, and Greene. In West Virginia, Eastern Preston, Marion, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio, Preston, Ridges of Eastern Monongalia and Northwestern Preston, and Wetzel. * Through late tonight * Showers and thunderstorms will redevelop today. Some of the storms will produce very heavy rainfall. Flash flooding of roads, streams, and creeks will be possible, especially in areas that receive multiple instance of heavy rainfall. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
