At 0022 hours, officers from the Cumberland Police received information about a stolen vehicle which was parked somewhere in the area of Elm Street.  Officers searched the area and located the stolen vehicle in the 600 block.  The vehicle had been reported stolen from Fulton County, NY earlier in the week. The vehicle was a 2004 Ford F350 fire department brush truck which was stolen from the Ephratah Volunteer Fire Department in Fort Plain, NY.  Officers located the vehicle but at first were unable to locate the suspect.  During the course of the investigation the suspect was located with the assistance of police dispatch which located his social media page.  Officers were able to locate a local address which was a private residence on Elm Street.  Officers contacted Claude Emmerson Bruce and questioned him about the stolen brush truck.  Bruce eventually admitted to officers that he took the truck without permission driving it to Cumberland to meet with a person he meant on social media.  Bruce was also wanted out of State of New York for grand larceny.  Bruce was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing and to await a hearing in District Court.  The total value of the stolen property that Bruce was in possession of was valued at over $125,000.00.  The stolen property will be returned to the Ephratah Volunteer Fire Department once they arrive in Cumberland.  At the conclusion of his initial appearance Bruce was held on a $20,000.00 bond on local charges and held without bond on the warrant out of New York.
