Officer Suffers Minor Injuries During Drug Arrest

Saturday afternoon during the 2 PM hour, an officer with the Cumberland Police Department was on patrol in the area of Spring Street when he observed two adult males involved in an argument.

As the officer began to approach the individuals he observed Aaron Donyae Manning assault the other male subject. The officer advised Manning he was under arrest, at which time Manning took an aggressive stance toward the officer. The officer attempted to place Manning under arrest and a struggle ensued. Manning pushed and attempted to strike the officer several times. The officer was finally able to place handcuffs on the suspect, but Manning continued to resist.

The officer was able to gain control of Manning and he was placed under arrest. As he was being searched a baggie of CDS was located on his person. The officer sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. Manning was charged with 2nd Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing and Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute, and CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held on a bond of $25,000. He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his next appearance in District Court.

Aaron Donyae Manning, age: 21, Cumberland, MD

Charges: 2nd Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing and Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute, and CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana.
