April 21st, 2017 by WCBC Radio

On Friday 36 year old Jason Leo Slider, Oldtown, was arrested by members of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office Warrant/Fugitive Unit after a warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with sex offenses committed against a then 14 year old female victim. Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) first obtained information about Slider as they continued investigation into the sexual abuse allegations made against 35 year old Travis Keith Heavner, Flintstone. Heavner was arrested on 03/02/2017 for sexually abusing two young girls, whose ages ranged from 10 to 17 years of age, over a several year time period.  Heavner is currently being held without bond pending trial.

While interviewing potential victims of Heavner's, they learned about Slider's activity with this victim, who was friends with one of Heavner's victims. Investigators learned through interviews that Slider and Heavner would meet with the victims at various locations to engage in sexual activity with them. The victims were in their early teens when the activity started, and Slider and Heavner were in their mid to late twenties.

Slider has been charged with 2nd Degree Sex Offense, 3rd Degree Sex Offense, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, and related charges. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and was released by the Commissioner on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance.  The Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office has petitioned the Court for an immediate review of the Commissioner’s decision to release Slider on his own recognizance.
