O’Malley Doesn’t Support Total Decriminalization

After some initial hesitation, Governor Martin O’Malley recently signed into law a bill to decriminalize marijuana in Maryland- however he says at this time he would not be inclined to support total legalization for recreational use as some other states have done. The issue won’t be on O’Malley’s desk for consideration as he has presided over his final general assembly session as governor- however he was asked during a post session bill signing where he stood on  the concept of legalizing the drug for recreational purposes. Essentially he said that its too early to know the possible impacts, with too small a sample size thus far in other states- and that he doesn’t advocate the use of marijuana, especially among young people…
