O’Malley Points to Special Session Within Weeks

May 2nd, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Senate President Mike Miller says a special session could happen in a few weeks.  Miller spoke last week with Governor Martin O'Malley and House Speaker Michael Busch to discuss a timeline for a special session.  They also discussed the fact that the governor would have to make additional cuts at the Board of Public Works by the end of May if another session isn't held.  An income tax increase that would have averted the need for about a half a billion in cuts fell apart in the waning hours of the session earlier this month. Faced with those additional cuts that would occur at the next Board meeting- the governor said its imperative to conduct the session within the next three weeks.
