August 26th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

This past week an Arrest Warrant Initiative was conducted by the Cumberland Police Department’s Safe Streets Program. The Operation Safe Streets Warrant Initiative began Monday, August 19, and concluded Friday, August 23, 2013.

Our goal continues to be making our streets safer through the reduction of backlogged arrest warrants. The Safe Streets Operation sought citizen help in locating and apprehending individuals on open arrest warrants.

A total of thirty-six (36) individuals were arrested on active arrest warrants, with a total of forty-two (42) arrest warrants being served.  Another interesting stat is that we apprehended twelve (12) of the sixteen (16) individuals that we released to the media for publication.
