Operations at the Luke Mill have now ceased in anticipation of the plant closure at the end of this month. It was late April when the Verso Corporation made the announcement that the 130 year old operation would come to an end this summer- in the process putting close to 700 mill workers out of a job. Since that time, government and union leaders have been scrambling to minimize the impact of its closure.
