Opposition Group Plans to Dig in Against Wind Turbine Project

October 31st, 2019 by WCBC Radio

After remaining somewhat dormant for over a year, there has been a renewed push to locate 17 wind turbines on Dan’s Mountain, with the latest move a reversal of opinion by the Allegany County Board of Zoning Appeals. Yesterday, WCBC featured comments from County Commissioner David Caporale.  He opined that to say the commissioners had stacked the zoning board in order to obtain a better fate for the wind project was not correct because a court order had yet to be obtained asking for a new zoning opinion. Darlene Park is with the ANCHOR group opposed to the project and disagreed…

Park says opponents of the project have a plan to fight the matter, but would not tip her hand as to the details.

This is just another example of this area’s backwardness and the reason it’ll always be a poverty pocket. New idea, naw we don’t like it because it isn’t a smoke stack industry!

I don’t think not wanted turbines besides houses has anything to do with opposing economic growth or wanting smokestack industries. Poor extrapolation.
