Outdoor School Continues to Impress Both Parents and Students

It was during the summer of 2006 that the Allegany County Board of Education voted to re-establish the Outdoor School program after nearly two decades.  The idea to reinstate the program came from the late Fred Sloan during his term in office. At first the program returned in the form of a two-day, daytime program for fifth- and sixth-graders- but shortly thereafter was restored to the weeklong overnight experience in Garrett County.
