Saturday, at about 6:40 AM, Cumberland Police were called to a North Centre Street residence to investigate a report of an assault.
Upon their arrival they made contact with a female and a male inside the residence. The officers spoke with both subjects about what occurred prior to their arrival. Officers observed physical signs of injury to the female and determined that she had been assaulted by Mark Johnathon Tallman. He was taken into custody without incident.
A search incident to the arrest was conducted by officers. Tallman was found to be in possession of several pills which are controlled which he did not have a prescription for.
Tallman was processed and taken before the District Court Commissioner. At the conclusion of the hearing Tallman was held on a $8,500.00 bond.

At approximately 3:30 PM Saturday, officers were contacted at Police Headquarters by a female victim about an assault that occurred at a Shriver Avenue residence.
The victim told officers about the incident and showed them where she had been assaulted. The officers observed injuries which were consistent with how she stated the assault occurred.
Officers were able to contact the suspect Richard Leslie Kennell at a residence on Oak Street. Officers spoke with Kennell about the incident and at the conclusion placed him into custody for assault.
Kennel was transported to the District Court Commissioners Office after being processed. At the conclusion of his hearing Kennell was released from custody pending trial in District Court.
