Pair Charged In Cumberland Street Burglary

Saturday evening, at about 8:00 PM, City Police were called to a Cumberland Street residence for a report of a burglary in progress. 

The caller reported seeing two subjects enter the building prior to the arrival of officers.  It was discovered that entry was made through the rear door as officers observed damage. 

Officers entered the building and located Tyler Anthony McMarlin on the second floor.  Additional officers located the second subject who was identified as Gary Lee Smith outside of the residence.  Officers learned that both subjects along with a third subject gained entry into the residence several days prior and had been staying there. 

McMarlin and Smith were placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Both subjects were taken before the District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing. 

Tyler Anthony McMarlin, age 33 of Cumberland, MD
Charge: 4th Degree burglary 
Held on a $500.00 bond

Gary Lee Smith, age 39 of Cumberland, MD
Charge: 4th Degree burglary
Held on a $1,000.00 bond
