When Cumberland’s Downtown Development Commission met with stakeholders in early November to discuss future projects for the downtown area- one dominant theme, or complaint, centered on parking issues. During the nearly two hour meeting, a number of suggestions were offered including asking the DDC to approach businesses and ask them to allow patrons to park in their lots after hours. Property owner Ed Mullaney pointed to the George Street parking garage as well as the Mechanic Street parking garage as alternatives. Steven Leyh, promotions director for the DDC, tells WCBC News that he doesn’t believe the parking situation is as bad as some perceive it to be- but says it is an issue that will be at the top of the DDC’s agenda this year…
