December 2nd, 2014 by WCBC Radio

At approximately 6:09 am the Hagerstown Barrack received a call for a pedestrian struck on eastbound Interstate 70 in the area of the 33 mile marker.

The investigation revealed that a Chevy Silverado 1500 was parked on the right shoulder and had its emergency flashers on.  The driver of the Chevy Silverado, a 32 year old Hagerstown  resident, appeared to be walking eastbound to retrieve fuel.

A tractor trailer being driven by, Shawnell Corn, 38, of Baltimore was traveling eastbound in the area of the 33 mile marker when he drove off onto the right shoulder striking the Chevy Silverado and continuing east.  After striking the Silverado the tractor and trailer struck the pedestrian.  The tractor and trailer then pulled over and Corn called 911.  Paramedics transported the struck pedestrian to Meritus Medical Center with life threatening injuries.  The tractor and trailer driver was not injured.
