Planning Phase for New Allegany Underway

May 21st, 2013 by WCBC Radio

With much of the financial planning taken care of, the planning phase for the proposed new Allegany High School is now underway. A crowd estimated at around 75 were in attendance at a visioning session held in the Allegany auditorium, with the architectural team looking for any and all ideas that may lead to a state of the art high school.  With a price tag standing at $41 million, the architectural firm of Grimm and Parker of Calverton said that the group is looking for input from parents, students, faculty, administrators and the community in general. Steve Parker hosted the session that began with a brief presentation highlighting flexible multi-use areas, collaborative learning spaces, media rooms along with expandable technology options, Wi-Fi and a cyber cafe.  He said that previous projects have benefited greatly from such visioning sessions.

The idea of vision means that the enrollment will go up at the new Allegany. Therefore there has to be EMPTY office, classroom and storage areas. Don’t open a new school with it already at capacity.
