April 16th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

On Wednesday, April 15th, 2020 the Cumberland Police responded to a Wallace Street residence for the report of an assault.  When officers arrived, contact was made with a female victim who told officers that 3 males showed up in a vehicle and started a confrontation with her son.  One of the males identified as Cedric Ricardo Stepney allegedly brandished a knife.  The female victim went outside to confront the males and was shoved to the ground by one of them.  The situation then escalated and several individuals were fighting in the street.  The males then got back into their vehicle and left before police arrived.  Moments later, while police were speaking with the female, Cedric Stepney showed back up to Wallace Street and continued to argue with the female in the officer’s presence.  He was warned to stop causing a disturbance but he ignored the warnings.  He was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and fail to obey and lawful order.  Stepney was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his own personal recognizance pending trial.
