Police Have Busy Wednesday

On June 26, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department were in the area of Queen City Drive when they attempted to arrest and serve an open warrant on Rodricus Marquees Wilkes.  Wilkes was known to the officers and currently wanted after an incident that took place on June 25, 2019.  As the officers attempted to take Wilkes into custody, he fled the area on foot.  After a brief foot pursuit, Wilkes was taken into custody.    During the June 25th incident, Wilkes was stopped for driving with a suspended license.  As the officer was approaching the vehicle, Wilkes drove his vehicle at the officer almost striking the officer.   The officer was able to avoid being struck and pursued the vehicle being driven by Wilkes.  The vehicle pursuit was quickly terminated by the officer.  As a result of this incident a warrant for 1st degree felony assault was issued against Wilkes.  Wilkes was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Wilkes was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Charges on June 25th: 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, Attempting to Elude a Uniformed Police Officer by failing to stop, Attempting to Elude Police in Official Police Vehicle by Failing to Stop, Person Driving Vehicle on Suspended License and Privilege, Driving Motor Vehicle without a License.
Charges on June 26th: Obstructing / Hindering and Failure to Obey.

Arrest Warrant Served for Failure to Appear
On June 26, 2019 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Floyd Eugene Ferguson, age 46 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued by a District Court Judge after Ferguson failed to appear for court on a driving suspended charge.  Ferguson was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.  Ferguson was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Ferguson was released on his own personal recognizance.

Disorderly Conduct Arrest
On June 26, 2019 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 205 East Union Street for a report of individuals consuming alcohol in violation of the city ordinance.  Once the officer arrived, he made contact with several males and one female identified as Misty Dawn Jenkins.  When the officer contacted the subjects they were sitting on property that was clearly marked no trespassing.  The officer informed them that they were trespassing and had them leave the property.  As Jenkins was leaving the area, she approached a female who was recording the incident from across the street.  Jenkins approached the female gave her the middle finger and started yelling at her.  Jenkins was instructed by the officer to stop yelling and to leave the area.  Jenkins began to leave the area when she turned around and approached the female a second time.  Jenkins threw her belongings in the street and started raising her voice again.  Jenkins approached the female clinched her fist and told her she was going to beat her up.  Jenkins was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.  Jenkins was processed and served with a criminal citation.

Criminal Summons Served
On June 26, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Mikayla Elizabeth Holliday, age 19 of Frostburg, Maryland.  The summons was issued after a private citizen filed charges at District Court.  The court documents alleged that Holliday stole several personal items from the victim at a residence on Fairview Avenue.  Holliday was served with the summons and released pending her trial date in District Court.

Arrest Warrant Served
On June 26, 2019 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Myron Allen Battle, age 31 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued after a private citizen filed charges at District Court.  The court documents alleged that Battle assaulted a female inside her residence on Fayette Street earlier this month.  During this incident, the victim alleged that Battle assaulted her several times before leaving with her cell phone.  Battle was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Battle was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Battle was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Arrest Warrant Served
On June 26, 2019 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Chad Edward Izat, age 31 of Cumberland, Maryland.   The warrant was issued after a private citizen filed charges at District Court.  The court documents alleged that Izat assaulted a female victim on two separate occasions breaking her nose.  Izat threatened to burn the victim’s house down if she called the police.  Izat was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Izat was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Izat was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Criminal Summons Served 
On June 26, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal Summons on Heather Kaelynn Hamilton, age 29 of Cumberland, Maryland.   On April 22, 2019 officers contacted Hamilton at a residence on Greene Street.   Officers arrested Hamilton on that date after she was found to have 6 active warrants.  While officers were attempting to identify Hamilton she provided false information but was eventually taken into custody.  During a search of Hamilton incident to arrest, officers located suspected crack cocaine and suspected drug paraphernalia.  The drugs and drug paraphernalia were confiscated on that date and charges were applied for.  Hamilton was processed on April 22, 2019 on the active warrants.  On today’s date, Hamilton was served with the summons and released pending a trial in District Court.

Charges: False Statement to Officer, Obstructing and Hindering, 2 counts of Possession other than Marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Criminal Summons Served
On June 25, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the Maryland Scenic Railroad located at 13 Canal Street for a report of individuals fighting.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a male victim.  The victim told officers that he was walking up the stairs toward the train station when Ronald Giles and Matthew Tomczewski began to attack him.  The victim said that he pushed one of the males away as the second suspect continued to punch him in the head.  During the struggle the victim told police that his cell phone fell out of his pocket.  Officers also contacted several witnesses in the area who confirmed the victim’s story.  Witnesses also told officers that the victim’s cell phone was broke intentionally by the suspects.  Both suspects fled the scene prior to police arriving.  As a result of this incident, the investigating officer submitted paper work resulting in charges being issued.  Giles and Tomczewski were served with charges on this date and released pending a trial date in District Court.

Charges: 2nd Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Malicious Destruction of Property.

Criminal Summons Served
On June 26, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Rodney Leon Merica, age 25 of Cumberland, Maryland.  On June 25, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 124 Oak Street for a reported assault.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a female victim.  The female victim told officers that she as arguing with Merica when he assaulted her.  The female victim did not require medical attention at the scene.  As result of the incident, the victim filed charges at District Court resulting in a summons being issued.  Merica was served with the summons and released pending a trial date in District Court.
