Police Impersonator Reported In Washington County

December 1st, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Hagerstown Barrack of Maryland State Police is investigating a report of a possible police impersonator.

On 12-01-2015 at approximately 0748 hours, a female reported a black Chevy SUV, possibly a Suburban or Tahoe, displaying red/blue flashing lights, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on I-70 westbound in Washington County.  The female observed no markings on the vehicle and dark windows.  She also observed a Montana license plate.

She exited onto Dual Highway(exit 32) and called 911.  She pulled into the PNC Bank at Dual and Edgewood Drive and the suspect vehicle pulled in behind her. The female stayed in her vehicle, with her window up, while still in contact with 911.

A white male in his 40s with red combed hair, "beady" eyes and glasses approached.  He was approximately 5'11" with a thin build and wearing a brown bomber style jacket.  She observed a flashlight on his belt, but no uniform, badge or identification.  She told the subject through the closed window as she showed him her phone, that she was on line with the police.  The male then returned to his vehicle and made a U-turn at the traffic light to head eastbound on Dual Highway.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hagerstown Barrack at 301-766-3800.

If anyone observes a black Chevy SUV displaying a Montana license plate, make note of the tag number and contact the barrack.
