Police Log – 01-22-16

January 22nd, 2016 by WCBC Radio

On 01/21/16 Officers responded to the Lamont Street side of Fort Cumberland Homes for a reported disturbance.  Officers arrived and observed a male exit the apartment where the reported disturbance had occurred.  They began to speak to the subject who identified himself as John Smith.  Officers then spoke to a female inside of the apartment.  The female, Tahara Smith, stated she did not know Smith, who was standing with the other Officers.  Through their investigation the Officers were able to identify the male subject as Joshua Macklin, and not John Smith.  It was determined that Macklin was indeed inside the residence with Tahara Smith and had been causing a disturbance.  When confronted, Macklin began yelling across the apartment complex.  He was advised several times by Officers to keep the noise down and he refused.  His yelling drew the attention of several other residents in the area. He was then placed under arrest.  During a search of his person Officers located CDS paraphernalia.  While the Officers were placing him under arrest, Tahara Smith began walking toward the Officers yelling loudly. She was advised to back away and stop yelling and she refused.  Smith continued to yell and approach the Officers which also drew the attention of several residents in the area.  Smith was also placed under arrest at that time.  Both subjects were transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing. They were then transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office.  Joshua Macklin was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.  Tahara Smith was released on her own recognizance.
