City residents pose as railroad workers, facing theft charges

On January 28, 2016 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the Fairfield Inn located at 21 Wineow Street for a trespassing complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they met with an employee at the Fairfield Inn who observed two individuals who were not guests eating the continental breakfast.  Officers made contact with Eric Lee Rosenberger and Elizabeth Marie Dean.  While speaking with the subjects, Rosenberger informed the officers that he was with the railroad and informed the front desk he was waiting for his boss to confirm a room for him.  Officers later determined that Rosenberger and Dean were not staying at the Fairfield Inn and they were not working for the railroad.  Both subjects were escorted from the property and taken into custody.  During a search of Dean, officers located numerous food items that were taken from the Fairfield.  Rosenberger and Dean were transported to the Cumberland City Police Department and issued citations for theft.   Officers later learned that Dean had two active warrants for her arrest that dated back to June and March of 2015.  Dean’s first warrant was for theft from a business on Park Street and her second warrant was for possession of heroin.  Rosenberger was released from the station pending a trial date at District Court.  Dean was taken before the District Court Commissioner and held on a total of $4,000 bond.

Shoplifting Arrest

 

On January 29, 2016 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Sheetz on Virginia Avenue for a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they made contact with store management, who advised that Brittany Ann Smith was observed stealing items from the store.  Smith was detained by management as she attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.  Smith later admitted to the officers that she intended on taking the items without paying.  Smith was issued a criminal citation and later released pending her trial date in District Court.
