Police Log – 01/02/2015

On January 1, 2015 at 2:52 AM officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 235 Paca Street (Queen City Towers) for a disturbance complaint.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the complainant.  Officers were informed by the complainant that when he returned to the Queen City Towers where he resides he observed the rear door inside the vestibule to have the glass broken out.  After entering the lobby area he heard the elevator door open and observed a white male exit the elevator bleeding from his right hand.   The male subject was confronted by the complainant about the damage to the door but the subject took off toward Greene Street.  During a check of the building officers located a large amount of blood inside the elevator, on the floor, ceilings and walls.  The cover to the elevator light was broken and lying on the floor.  During a check of each floor officers located broken Christmas decorations on the fourth floor in the common area.   There was also a large amount of blood on the fourth floor in the common area floor, walls and apartment doors.   After completing a check of the building officers were dispatched to 103 Greene Street to assist the Cumberland Fire Department for a subject with a hand laceration.  When officers arrived at the residence they were informed by the resident that the male subject who requested the ambulance took off running out the back door.  Officers were able to locate the subject who was hiding in the rear yard.  The subject was identified as Joshua Daniel Lowe.  Lowe was treated at the scene and transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.  Several officers responded to the hospital to speak with Lowe.  During a check of video surveillance at the Queen City Towers officers were able to determine that Lowe was the subject who busted out the glass and entered the building.  Lowe was later released from the hospital and taken into custody.  Lowe was transported the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Lowe was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance.  Lowe was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.

 

Arrested: Joshua Daniel Lowe                                            Age: 22 of Clarksville, Arkansas

 

Charges:  2 Counts of Destruction of Property and Disorderly Conduct.

 

Breaking and Entering

 

On January 1, 2014, officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Naylor’s Ace True Value Store for a breaking and entering complaint.  When officers arrived they found the front window to the left of the main door broken inwards.  It appeared that a suspect entered the store and removed several chainsaws.   During a check of the stores video surveillance, officers observed an unknown suspect attempting to break the glass on the front door.  Entry was made by the suspect as he was observed making several trips between Naylor’s and Dairy Queen.   At this time the case is still under investigation.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Cumberland City Police at 301-777-1600.
