Cumberland Police Report Three Arrests

On 1/1/16 at approx. 2334hrs an officer from the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on New Hampshire Avenue for an equipment violation.  The officer made contact with the operator of the vehicle when a female subject exited a nearby residence and approached the traffic stop.  A back-up officer instructed the female subject to stop and walk away from the area.  The female began to argue with officers and started causing a disturbance.  The officers again instructed the female subject to leave the area.  The female subject continued to argue with officers taking the officers attention away from the traffic stop.  After numerous attempts were made to get the female subject to leave the area and calm down failed.  Shanisa Onte Wrisby was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Wrisby was later released from custody after being issued a criminal citation.

Charge: Failure to obey a lawful order

 

On 1/2/16 at approx. 2052hrs an officer from the Cumberland Police Department was dispatched to the Emergency Room at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center to take a report of an assault.  The officer arrived and made contact with the victim who was being treated by hospital staff.  The officer discovered that the victim was injured at his residence on Columbia Street by another male subject who lives there.  The officer interviewed the victim and after observing the injuries to his person responded to the residence to make contact with the suspect.  The officer made contact with Michael Brian Chamberlain at the residence.  The officer conducted an investigation into the incident that occurred earlier in the evening.  At the conclusion of the investigation the officer took Chamberlain into custody without incident.  Chamberlain was transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  He was later taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on a $5,000.00 unsecured bond.

Charge: 2nd degree assault

 

On 1/3/16 at approx. 1330hrs, officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of N. Mechanic Street to assist the Maryland State Police who was out with a disturbance. Upon the arrival of officers the parties involved in the original disturbance had been separated.  A cab was contacted to transport one of the subjects involved to a nearby hotel.  Prior to the cab arriving Delbert Earl Booker began to yell disturbing patrons at a nearby business.  Officers instructed Booker numerous times to lower his voice and to quit causing a disturbance.  Booker failed to comply with orders and was taken into custody without incident. Booker was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing. Booker was later released from custody pending a trial in District Court.
