Police Log 02-20-15

On Thursday, February 19, 2015 at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Decatur Street in reference to a domestic assault.  Upon the officer’s arrival contact was made with the female victim who stated that she was assaulted by Leo Richard Durocher Sr.  The victim stated that she and Durocher were arguing then he struck her on her head then threw her down on a bed and began to choke her.  The victim stated that she was able to get away from Durocher and she began to throw his clothing out of the residence.  Durocher also began throwing the victim’s clothing out of the residence.  The victim stated that she went downstairs to call the police and Durocher began to attempt to retrieve the clothing with a plastic snow shovel.  Durocher then threw the snow shovel at the victim striking her in her right eye causing an injury.  Officers were able to observe injuries to the victim consistent with her account of the assault.  Durocher was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Durocher was then taken to District Court for his initial appearance and held on $5,000.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim did not require medical treatment for her injuries.

Arrested:

Leo Richard Durocher Sr – age 54 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Second degree assault.

 

Shoplifting Arrest

On Thursday, February 19, 2015 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Dollar General located on Greene Street in reference to a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the store manager who stated that she observed a female subject conceal items from the store by placing them inside her coat and exiting the store without paying for the items.  The suspect was contacted and identified as Sherry Lynn Ann Perkins.  Perkins removed the items from her coat and admitted to taking the items and leaving the store without paying for them.  Perkins was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Perkins was then issued a criminal citation charging her with theft under $100.00 and was released pending further action at District Court at a later date.

Shoplifting Arrest

On Thursday, February 19, 2015 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to Martin’s Market located on Park Street in reference to a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officer’s arrival contact was made with a store employee who advised that they observed a female suspect steal an item from the store.  The employee stated that he observed the suspect take the item and exit the store and leave the area in a passenger vehicle.  Video surveillance was reviewed and the suspect was observed taking the item.  The officer reviewed the video surveillance and was able to identify the suspect as Taryn Denise Hartley-George.  The officer was able to make contact with Hartley-George at her residence and issued her a criminal citation charging her with theft under $100.00. Hartley-George was released at the scene and will face further action in District Court at a later date.
