Man arrested for forging checks

On Thursday,  during the late morning hours, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a south Cumberland bank in reference to a fraud complaint.  Employees at the bank advised police that a subject inside the bank was allegedly attempting to pass a fraudulent check.  Officers arrived in the area and bank employees identified the suspect who was still in the area.  Officers detained the suspect who was identified as Antonio Jerome Rodney, 33, of Cumberland.  After an investigation was initiated, it was confirmed that Rodney had attempted to pass a fraudulent check inside the bank.  Rodney was also found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana.  As a result of this investigation, Rodney was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

CDS Possession: Marijuana – 1 count

Forgery – Private Documents – 1 count

Bad Check Utter $500 and Under – 1 count

Theft Less than $1,000.00 – 1 count

Theft Less than $100.00 – 1 count

Rodney was processed and taken for a bond hearing at District Court.  He was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a $7,500.00 bond.

Assault on Police/Warrant Arrest

    On 04/02/2015 during the early afternoon hours, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Columbia Street address in order to check on the well being of a subject lying on the sidewalk.  Upon arrival to the scene officers contacted the subject involved who identified himself with a false name.  A back-up officer arrived on the scene and recognized the subject involved as Anthony Rondell Lucky, 23, of Cumberland.  During the investigation it was learned that there was an open arrest warrant for Lucky in Cecil County Maryland for failure to appear on Assault, CDS, and Dangerous-Concealed Weapon charges.  Lucky was placed under arrest and began resisting officers and refusing to get into the police vehicle.  Lucky was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where upon arrival he began attempting to cause damage to the police vehicle and was assaulting the arresting officers.  Once removed from the vehicle, Lucky allegedly began spitting on officers.  Lucky was processed for the warrant and the following charges:

 

False Identity to Avoid Prosecution – 1 count

Obstructing and Hindering Police – 1 count

Disorderly Conduct – 1 count

Assault 2nd Degree – 3 counts

Lucky was transported to the Allegany County District Court for a bond hearing.  Lucky was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a $25,000.00 bond.

 

Domestic Assault Arrest

    On 04/02/2015 during the early morning hours, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to an Altamont Terrace address for a reported domestic assault complaint.  Upon arrival to the scene, officers contacted the victim in this case who advised that they had been assaulted just prior to the officers arrival.  The victim in this case alleged that they had been assaulted by a subject they identified as James Oliver Long, 59, of Cumberland.  According to the victim, Long had struck them with his fists and then chased them with a large wooden club while threatening to assault them again. Officers were able to observe injuries to the victim and located a club allegedly used in this incident.  As a result, Long was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was charged with the following:

Assault 2nd Degree – 1 count

Deadly Weapon – Intent to Injure – 1 count

Long was processed and transported to the Allegany County District Court for a bond hearing.  Long was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a $3000.00 bond.
