Police Log – 04-17-15

On Thursday, April 16, 2015 at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to Martin’s Market on Park Street in reference to a theft.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with store employee who stated that he observed a male subject steal several items and walk out of the store.  The subject was contacted and identified as John Robert Scott Jr.  Scott was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Scott was charged with theft under $1,000.00 and taken to District Court.

Arrested:

John Robert Scott Jr – age – Cumberland, MD

Charge:

Theft less than $1,000.00

 

Criminal Summonses Served

On Thursday, April 16, 2015 the Cumberland Police Department served criminal summonses on the following subjects;

Joshua Allan Sills – age 33 – Cumberland, MD

Traffic related charges regarding a hit and run crash.

John Robert Scott Jr – age 39 – Cumberland, MD

Charged with theft less than $1,000.00 and conspiracy to commit theft less than $1,000.00.

 

Theft Arrest

On Thursday, April 16, 2015 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Springdale Street in reference to a theft.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the operator of a taxi cab who advised that he provided a ride for a subject and when they arrived at their destination the subject failed to pay for the taxi ride.  Gregory Lon Stinebaugh was issued a criminal citation charging him with theft.  Stinebaugh was released from the scene pending further action at District Court.

Gregory Lon Stinebaugh – age 63 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Theft less than $100.00

 

Disorderly Conduct Arrest

On Thursday, April 16, 2015 at approximately 9:40 p.m. the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in reference to a disturbance.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with subjects involved in the disturbance.  One subject failed to listen to officers when she was told to stop creating a disturbance and leave the area.  Once outside the residence this subject continued to yell and disturb the peace.  Officers arrested Christy Dawn Wolfe, charging her with disorderly conduct.  Wolfe was transported to Police Headquarters for processing and was released after being issued a criminal citation pending further action at District Court.

Assault on Police / CDS Arrest

On Friday, April 17, 2015 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to Third Street at Grand Avenue in reference to a complaint of CDS activity.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with several subjects.  One subject became deceptive and when he would talk with officers they observed something in his mouth.  The officer questioned the subject as to what was in his mouth then he shoved the officer and took off running.  A brief foot chase took place until officers were able to catch the suspect identified as Wesley Eugene Baker 2nd.  Baker continued to resist arrest and struggled with officers briefly.  Baker was hiding Crack Cocaine in his mouth.  Baker was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Baker was later taken to District Court for his initial appearance and held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $10,000.00.

Arrested:

Wesley Eugene Baker 2nd – age 36 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Second degree assault, resisting arrest, possession of Crack Cocaine.
