Shoplifting incident leads to drug arrest

Officers responded to Sheetz on Virginia Ave. for a report of a shoplifter.  Upon their arrival they made contact with the manager and the subject they had detained was identified as Tammy Sue Shoemaker.  The manager stated that Shoemaker was observed picking up a $15.89 cell phone charger and leave the store without paying for it.  She was contacted in the parking lot by the staff and at first denied stealing the charger.  She then admitted to stealing it and retrieved it from her purse.  The charger was given back to the staff by Shoemaker who was then asked to come back in the store.  She came back into the store voluntarily.  While being talked to by the officer Shoemaker admitted to stealing the charger and now offered to pay for it.  She was placed under arrest and searched.  While searching her, a metal crack pipe fell from her person.  Her purse was also searched and a small baggie of heroin was located along with a hypodermic syringe.  She was transported to PH where she was searched further and a small baggie of fake heroin was located in her pocket.  Shoemaker was processed and charged.

Charges: Possession of Heroin, 2 Cts. CDS Paraphernalia Possession, CDS Admin Equipment, Counterfeit CDS

Shoemaker was taken for a Bond Hearing and released by the Commissioner on her personal recognizance.
