City man facing assault charges

ASSAULT

On Wednesday May 27, 2015, at 9:00 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to the area of Union Street for an Assault.  The officer made contact with the victim who was bleeding from the back of the head.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Phillip Potter, age 48, had gotten into an argument with the victim.  The argument escalated which led to Potter throwing a large rock that struck the victim in the back of the head.  Potter was placed in custody and was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Center for treatment for a laceration to his head.

CHARGES:  Assault 1st and 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct.
