Cumberland Police Make Virginia Avenue Theft Arrests

On Sunday June 21, 2015, Cumberland City Police at 10:39 am, Cumberland City Police responded to a business on Virginia Avenue for a reported Theft.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Carla Barnhart, age 45 of Cresaptown, was observed by way of video surveillance camera taking a store owned item and exiting the store without paying for it.  Barnhart was criminally cited and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGE:  Theft less than $100.00 dollars.

THEFT

On Sunday June 21, 2015, at 6:48 am, Cumberland City Police at 10:39 am, Cumberland City Police responded to a business on Virginia Avenue for a reported Theft.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Gary Smith, age 36 of Cumberland was observed by employees of the business taking store owned items and exited the store without paying for them.  Smith was criminally cited and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGE:  Theft less than $100.00 dollars.

WARRANT SERVICE

On Sunday June 21, 2015, Cumberland City Police served two Bench Warrants on Carson Sommerlatt, age 26 of Cumberland.  The warrants were issued as a result of Sommerlatt failing to appear for trial on May 26, 2015 for a previous motor vehicle related traffic arrest.  Sommerlatt was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing.  He was released on his personal recognizance.

CHARGE:  Fail to Appear (2 counts).
