Police Log – 07/27/14

On July 26, 2014 at 2:30 P.M., officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the 100 block of Seymour Street for a burglary complaint.  When officers arrived they spoke with the victim and began investigating the incident.  Officers learned that Timothy Winkler had walked into victim’s residence through an unlocked door uninvited.  Once inside the residence, Winkler assaulted the victim and then fled the area.  Officers also learned that there was a Protective Order in place which prohibited Winkler from being at the residence or contacting the victim.  Officers interviewed other witnesses to the incident and also observed minor injuries to the victim.  An officer on patrol later located Winkler and placed him under arrest. A search incident to arrest of Winkler revealed a small amount prescription drugs, and drug paraphernalia.  Winkler was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was charged and processed.  He was later taken to District Court for his Initial Appearance, and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center pending a hearing.

Charges: 3rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Assault, Fail to Comply with Court Order, CDS Possession not Marijuana, CDS Possession Paraphernalia
