Domestic assault arrest

July 29th, 2015                                                                       Domestic Assault

On 07/29/15 at 2:29pm Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the first block of Altamont Terrace in reference to an assault. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who stated that an argument ensued which turned physical. The victim advised that the subject further threatened them with a knife. Officers observed injuries consistent with their account of the incident that did not require medical attention. As a result 43 year old Thomas Lee Sr of Cumberland was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was charged with one count of First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Deadly Weapon with Intent to Injure. Lee was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $10,000 bond. Lee was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending his next court appearance.

 

July 29th, 2015                                                                        Criminal Summons Served

On 07/29/15 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept served a criminal summons on 38 year old Joshua Radcliffe of Cumberland. The summons stems from an incident on 07/21/15 when Officers responded to a residence located in the 300blk of Beall St for a report of an assault. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that Radcliffe was asked to leave the residence and became irate assaulting the tenant when told to do so. The victim had minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Radcliffe had left the area prior to Officer’s arrival. Radcliffe was served the summons charging him with Second Degree Assault and released pending trial in District Court.

 

July 30th, 2015                                                                             Breaking and Entering

On 07/30/15 at 0017hrs Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 100blk of W. Oldtown Rd in reference to a Breaking and Entering in progress. While en route Officers were advised that a male subject had entered a residence through a window and there was a subject inside yelling for help. Upon Officer’s arrival to the scene, they were directed to a parking lot area where the suspect was last observed. Officers observed the suspect who in turn began to flee from Officers on foot. Officers gave chase and apprehended the subject in the Potomac River just down over a hill of the C&O canal towpath. Officers contacted the victim who advised that they were familiar with the subject who entered the residence. Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked window after being told to leave the property by the tenant. The subject then entered the residence and assaulted the tenant taking an item of value. The victim had minor injury that did not require medical attention. The suspect was identified as 30 year old Michael Ray Albright of Cumberland. As a result Albright was transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was charged with First and Third Degree Burglary, Home Invasion, Robbery, Assault 2nd Degree Assault, Theft under $1,000, and Trespassing.

It was further learned that Albright had two active arrest warrants for his arrest. The first warrant stems from an investigation initiated by the Cumberland Police Dept on 05/13/15 when Officers responded to the 200blk of Somerville Ave for a report of a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who stated that an unknown male had entered their apartment and removed several items of value. Further investigation and use of surveillance video developed Alrbright as the suspect. As a result a warrant was issued charging him with Burglary First Degree, Fraud, Credit Card Steal Another’s, and 7cts of unauthorized use of a credit card.

The second warrant stems from an investigation initiated by the Cumberland Police Dept on 06/01/15 when an Officer observed Albright walking in the area of Arch St. The officer attempted to contact Albright in reference to having an open arrest warrant with Albright fleeing on foot from the Officer. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate him. The warrant charges Albright with one count of Obstructing and Hindering.

Albright was processed and served with both warrants and is currently awaiting an initial appearance
