Police Log – 07/31/14

Summons Served

On 07/30/14 Officers with the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on 53 year old John Kemp of Cumberland. The summons stemmed from a private citizen filing charges through the District Court on Kemp alleging that they were assaulted on 07/22/14 in the 100blk of Polk St. The victim did not require medical attention. The summons charges Kemp with one Count of Assault 2nd degree and Disorderly Conduct. Kemp was released after signing the summons pending trial in District Court.

 

 

Assault

On 07/30/14 the Cumberland Police Dept served responded to the 12000blk of Willowbrook Rd in reference to an assault complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted staff where it was learned that two juvenile female residents got into a physical altercation which did not require medical attention. The juveniles both age 15 were charged through the Dept of Juvenile Services with one count of Assault 2nd Degree.

 

 

Arson

On 07/25/14 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200blk of Washington St in reference to an arson complaint. Upon arrival it was learned that an unoccupied parked vehicle had attempted to be set on fire by igniting the gas tank which was unsuccessful.  No suspects have been developed at this time.

On 07/30/14 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to the area of Baltimore St and the First block of Washington St in reference to two different garbage cans and their contents to be on fire. The Cumberland Fire Dept responded and extinguished the fires using watering cans. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Cumberland Fire Dept Fire Marshall’s Office.
