On Friday, August 01, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department served criminal summonses on the following subjects;
Craig Lionel Younger – age 59 – Cumberland, MD. Summons charges Younger with second degree assault. The summons stems from an assault investigation which took place on July 30, 2014 on Baltimore Street. On that date Younger allegedly slapped another male subject in the face. Charges were applied for at District Court by the victim.
Karen Diann Adams – age 45 – Cumberland, MD. The summons charges Adams with trespassing on private property after being notified to stay away from the said property. Adams was charged with one count of trespassing on private property.
Beverly Frances Pendergast – age 39 – Cumberland, MD. The summons charges Pendergast with theft. On July 28, 2014 The Cumberland Police Department responded to the Sheetz on Greene Street in reference to a theft complaint. The suspect had left the store prior to the officer's arrival. Video surveillance was reviewed and Pendergast was identified as the suspect. Charges were applied for at District Court resulting in Pendergast being charged with one count of theft.
Possession of Marijuana Arrests
On August 01, 2014 at approximately 10:18 p.m., a Cumberland Police Officer on patrol executed a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing several equipment violations. The traffic stop took place in the 100 block of Arch Street. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects; Britney Jeanette Robey (Driver), Ryan Gregory Brooks (passenger), and Justin Lee Fagan Jr (passenger). The operator was contacted and informed of the reasons for the traffic stop. A police K-9 was summoned to respond to the scene to conduct a K-9 scan of the vehicle. The K-9 scan resulted in a positive alert which resulted in the vehicle being searched. The search resulted in a small quantity of Marijuana being located in the vehicle. Marijuana was also located on Fagan, inside his shorts pocket. All three were placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. All three were then issued criminal citations charging them each with one count of possession of less than 10 grams of Marijuana; they were released pending further action at District Court at a later date.
