Police Log – 08/11/14

On August 10, 2014 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the area of Decatur Street for a disturbance.  As officers arrived in the area they observed a black trash can being thrown into the roadway by a subject identified as, Eric Edward Plummer.  Officers made contact with Plummer and informed him to remove the trash can from the roadway, which he did.  After Plummer removed the trash can from the roadway he started yelling and screaming at the officers.  Plummer was asked several times to go inside his residence but he failed to obey the officer's orders.  Plummer continued to act in a disorderly manner and officers placed him under arrest.  Plummer was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Plummer was processed and served with a criminal citation.  Plummer was released pending his trial date in District Court.

Domestic Assault Arrest

On August 10, 2014 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 136 Independence Street in reference to a male subject attempting to break into the residence.  Upon the officers arrival they made contact with the homeowner who assured the officers that she was fine and that she did not need police assistance.  Officers made a check of the residence and cleared the area.

Approximately 10 minutes after officers cleared the call, they were dispatched back to 136 Independence Street in reference to a domestic assault.   When the officers arrived back at the residence they once again made contact with the female homeowner who advised officers that she was assaulted by William Alexander Atkinson.  Officers were informed that Atkinson left the residence running toward the backyard.  A check of the area was conducted by officers and Atkinson was not located.  During an investigation into the matter, officers were advised by the victim that she was arguing with Atkinson after they returned home from a local bar.  During the argument, Atkinson threw an object at the victim striking her in the face.  After being struck in the face, Atkinson started punching and kicking the female victim before leaving the residence.  Officers at the scene noted a large lump on the victims head as a result of the assault.  Before clearing the residence, officers were able to locate Atkinson who was hiding in the rear yard.  Atkinson was placed under arrest and searched incident to arrest.  During a search of Atkinson, officers located a clear plastic baggie of suspected marijuana.  Atkinson was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Atkinson was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Atkinson was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $4,000 bond.

Charges: 2nd Degree Assault and Possession of Marijuana.

 

Theft/CDS Arrest

On August 10, 2014 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Martin's Market on Park Street for a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they made contact with loss prevention.  Officers were advised that Heather Renee Sager attempted to steal a pregnancy test and a pair of sunglasses.  Sager passed all points of sale at which time she was stopped by store staff.  Sager was placed under arrest at the scene and searched incident to arrest.  During a search of Sager, officers located numerous used syringes and a suspected marijuana pipe.  Sager was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Sager was issued two criminal citations and released pending her trial date in District Court.

Charges: Theft Less Than $100 and Possession of drug paraphernalia
