Arrest for Motor Vehicle Theft

On 08/25/15 Cumberland Police Officers responded to an Altamont Terrace residence for a report of a stolen Motor Vehicle.  Officers interviewed the victim who stated they exited their residence and noticed their 2002 BMW was not parked where they left it the night before.  The victim stated they received a text from a friend they only knew by a first name.  They stated this subject admitted to them that they needed the car and that they entered the victim’s residence without their permission and removed the car keys.  The suspect texted the victim several times and said they would be returning the vehicle. The suspect did not return the vehicle when expected.  Officers later located the vehicle travelling eastbound on Interstate 68 and positively identified the vehicle as stolen.  Officers attempted to make a traffic stop but the vehicle refused to stop.  Officers followed the vehicle at a safe distance.  The vehicle ended up on a dead end alley near Altamont Terrace.  Two subjects then exited the vehicle and ran into the woods.  They refused to stop when order to do so by several Officers.  Officers set up a perimeter and, with the assistance of Allegany County Deputies and Maryland State Police Officers, the subjects were apprehended in the wooded area.  One of the subjects provided a false name and he was later determined to be Tyrell A. Brown.  The second subject, who was the driver of the vehicle, was identified as Antonio D. Henderson-Gill.  Both subjects were placed under arrest and were transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  They were processed and taken before the District Court Commissioner’s Office.  Both subjects were remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.  Henderson-Gill was held on $7,500.00 bond, and Brown was held on $3,000.00 bond .
