City Woman Facing Numerous Check Fraud Charges

On 10/28/2015, Cumberland City Police officers served an arrest warrant on a Cumberland woman for theft and forgery related charges.  The charges stem from a police investigation which was initiated on October 20, 2015.  The victim in this investigation reported to police that checks had been stolen, forged, and on two occasions money was withdrawn from their account without authorization.  As a result of this complaint, officers conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of Abree Danicka Nicol Braithwaite, 22, of Cumberland.  Braithwaite was charged with the following:

Theft Less than $100.00 – 1 count

Conspiracy – Issue False Document – 1 count

Forgery – Private Documents – 2 counts

Theft: Less than $1000.00 – 3 counts

Issue False Document – 2 counts

Conspiracy – Forgery Private Documents – 1 count

Conspiracy – Theft: Less than $1000.00 – 1 count

Conspiracy – Theft: Less than $100.00 – 1 count

Braithwaite was processed for the above charges and taken before a court commissioner for a preliminary hearing.  Braithwaite was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center where she is being held on a temporary commitment.
